Dear Colleagues,
We are fortunate to have an ample supply of talented leaders in this organization, so I didn’t have to look far to find our next Assistant County Manager.
Marcy Flanagan will take over for Lee Ann Bohn who is leaving for a great opportunity as the COO at Maricopa Community College District.
As many of you know, Marcy has served as Executive Director of the Department of Public Health since 2019. Shortly after joining us from Pima County, she was thrust into the role of joint director of the Unified Command to manage the public health side of the COVID-19 pandemic. When not responding to public health emergencies, Public Health is responsible for monitoring and preventing the spread of more than 80 communicable diseases in this region.

Marcy is a proven leader who has built teams in large government organizations to work collaboratively with community partners to deliver effective and efficient services. She has master’s degrees in administration and public health along with a doctorate in business administration.
I would like to thank Lee Ann for her years of service to Maricopa County where she rose through the ranks in the Budget Office, MCSO, Office of the Medical Examiner, and Superior Court before returning to County administration. Her last day is December 8th.

Marcy will take over this position on December 11. I am grateful to have a strong executive team, and I will keep you updated as we search for a new public health director.
