Glendale Opens Heat Relief Centers with $771,000 from Maricopa County
The city of Glendale has opened three heat relief centers, which are expected to serve up to 90 individuals per day between now through September. The goal for these centers is to provide a safe place for the unsheltered population and their pets to rest and receive essential nutrition and hydration and to reduce the amount of heat-related deaths in the unsheltered population.

As a reminder, Early Education is holding a weekly diaper drive for income eligible families within the service area. The Diaper Bank provides sizes from newborn to younger adult sizes for older children with special needs at no cost. More than 70 families have been distributed with supplies and hope to expand the growth. The drive provides an opportunity for staff to engage with community members and build connections among HSD staff.
