HSD Wins 15 NACo 2023 Achievement Awards |
|
I am thrilled to announce that the Human Services Department has been recognized for excellence with 15 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.

Congratulations are due to each and every neighborhood in our HSD community for the work that not only goes into the programs that were submitted, but for your overall commitment to making everything we are accomplishing impactful for individuals and families in Maricopa County, our colleagues, and our partners.
In case you didn’t know, the NACo Achievement Awards are given in 18 categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. This awards program dates back to 1970. What is so unique about the NACo awards, and why I highly encourage you to think about what you’ll submit in the next cycle, is that each nominated program is judged on its own merits and not against other applications.
NACo President Denise Winfrey shares that, “The Achievement Awards demonstrate excellence in county government. This year’s winners represent some of the most innovative and collaborative efforts we have seen in over 50 years of presenting these awards.”
Maricopa County as a whole was recognized with 58 awards. Of those 58 winning entries, 15 belong to HSD. I am so proud that HSD’s achievements represent over a quarter of the County’s recognition from NACo. There will be a ceremony for all Maricopa County NACo award-winning submissions in late August.
