NEW COUNTY MANAGER
County team,
I am pleased to announce that my colleagues and I have selected a new county manager.
Jen Pokorski has been part of the Maricopa County family since 2005 and is currently serving as one of our three assistant county managers. She manages seven departments that have direct interaction with the public including Air Quality, Animal Care and Control, Environmental Services, Flood Control District, Planning and Development, Real Estate, and Transportation (MCDOT). Prior to this role, Jen served as director of Planning and Development and director of the Ombudsman’s Office.
For those who haven’t had the chance to work with Jen, I’m confident you will learn what I have: she is a tremendous leader who balances a passion for solving problems efficiently with a deep care and concern for the people involved, whether members of the public or county employees. While Jen will lead in her own way—in collaboration with this Board—she has much in common with our current county manager, Joy Rich.
As you know, Joy is retiring on April 7. She has served this community well for more than three decades, including almost seven as county manager. I will always be grateful for her partnership. It’s a testament to Joy’s success that our next county manager comes from her executive leadership team. I trust Jen will continue Joy’s commitment to supporting our staff and serving our residents.
I told Jen she has the Board’s full support for whatever she needs. I know she will have more to share with you in the coming days.
Sincerely,
Chairman Clint Hickman
District 4
