When:

January 12, 2023

Summary:

The OET Information Security Team has identified an active phishing campaign targeting staff in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). Since several employees from the department have clicked on the malicious link and visited the malicious website, we are requesting increased vigilance. Those users whose accounts may have been compromised will be notified and are required to change their passwords.

Below is a screenshot of the active phishing email.

We are strongly encouraging all staff to exercise caution when reviewing email, even when the sender may seem trustworthy or familiar. Be mindful of the contents of the email as many will show indicators of malicious activity (e.g., blank body, unusual links, attachments, unexpected emails from County partners). You should never provide your username, password, or one-time security code to external entities outside the control of Maricopa County.

If you receive a suspicious email, please contact the Operations Center (602) 876-1234.
