We are happy to announce an addition to the MCSO leadership team: Executive Chief Mike Caputo.
Chief Caputo started his law enforcement career in 1994 with the City of Flagstaff, Arizona Police Department where he worked patrol, narcotics, and was both a certified hostage negotiator and a field training officer. Caputo transitioned to the FBI in 1999 where, during a career spanning over 22 years, he promoted up the ranks from Special Agent Investigator to Senior Executive Leadership, serving in California, Washington D.C., Virginia, Oregon, and Arizona.
As the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) for the Phoenix FBI Field Office (2015 to 2021) he served as the 2nd in command of the FBI in Arizona with extensive leadership experience in both criminal and national security investigations, technical support programs, ethics/compliance, physical security, crisis management/response, training, budget/audit, and human resources. He has extensive experience in all Federal investigative programs with an emphasis on Civil Rights and Color of Law (use of force) investigations. After serving over 22 years with the FBI, Caputo retired in March of 2021 and was hired as the Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Grand Canyon University.
In addition to graduating from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration, he graduated from the National Defense University in 2006 with a Master of Science degree in National Security Resource Strategy, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Executive Chief Caputo will assume command of the Bureau of Compliance.
