The following is for information on the Celebration of Life for Lieutenant Michael Bocchino.

About Lieutenant Bocchino

Bocchino

Michael P. Bocchino was born on June 7, 1971, to Vincent J. Bocchino and Rosemarie Laterza in Copiague, NY. However, he grew up in Lindenhurst, Long Island NY and played football and lacrosse all throughout high school.

Michael attended Stony Brook University and graduated 1993 with Bachelor of Arts and was also the starting defenseman on their Lacrosse Team. He continued his education receiving a Master of Professional Studies in 1995 and an Advanced Certificate in Labor Management in 1996.  In 2014 Michael earned his Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

He met his wife, Sherrl in 1996 the day after he graduated the MCSO Academy and they married in May of 2000. They have four children together, Natalee 15, Nicole 12, Jacquelynn 11, and Jonathan 11.

Lt. Michael Bocchino’s career with MCSO spans 26 years. During his time with MCSO he has served the office in many ways. While holding the rank of Deputy Sheriff he worked in Patrol, served as an FTO and also worked as a detective in the General Investigations Division. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001 and served as a Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant with MCSO General Investigations Division as well as with the El Mirage Police Department’s Central Investigations, Lake Patrol, and the Professional Standards Division. In 2016 he was promoted to Lieutenant where he was the Commander of the Criminal Intelligence Section before his most recent position as a Commander with the FBI’s Desert Hawk Task Force. Lt. Bocchino was set to retire December 2022 if not sooner.

He was an avid prankster to those close to him, his hobby was always his family and his children. Michael has been a caretaker for his parents since 2013 with a specially built ADA home to keep them comfortable.

Michael is survived by his wife Sherrl Bocchino, their four children, father Vincent Bocchino, brother Anthony Bocchino, sister-in-law Michelle and their three children.

He is, preceded by his mother Rosemarie Bocchino, grandparents Raffaela & Philip Bocchino, and Michael & Jesse Laterza.

Celebration of Life

Celebration of Life services will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Christ The King Church located at 1551 E. Dana Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204.

Mass Services

Mass Services will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Christ The King Church located at 1551 E. Dana Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204.

Interment

Private for family.
