Message from Sheriff Penzone

As we approach the end of another calendar year we reflect on the challenges, opportunities and successes that we have as individuals and as an organization. What stands out the most for me can only be characterized as a defining attribute for who we are as an organization. The one word that immediately comes to mind is “Resilient.”

We measure time and accomplishments by calendar years, but our journey cannot be encapsulated in a 12 month time frame. Over the past 3 years we have been challenged by anti-police protests, elections that divided us as people and a nation and the devastating pandemic that is taking the lives of too many friends and family. We’ve also felt the tragic loss of Detention Officer Gene Lee, Deputy Johnny Ruiz and Lieutenant Chad Brackman. For some, the pressure and loss of this volume would be too much. For the men and women in this organization it reflected your courage and conviction. You are Resilient.

It is never our way to make excuses or feel sorry for ourselves because there’s too much work to be done. There are too many people depending on us. And there’s too much to your character to prevent you from overcoming. That’s what makes this organization outstanding.

In closing I ask you to reflect on why you do what you do and why you are who you are. Although I do not know every member of MCSO on a personal capacity, I have seen enough and grown to know many, therefore I can say with confidence that you do this so that your friends and family will live in a safer community and a better society. That is your everyday gift to those you love.

During this holiday season I compel you to find the time to focus on the joy and blessings. Take time to remember that life offers us incredible experiences and fills our lives with wonderful people.

May God bless you and keep you safe and I pray that your holiday season brings you much joy and quality time with those you love. You deserve it and have absolutely earned it.

1 Year Anniversary of the Intake, Transfer, and Release (ITR) Facility

Monday, November 15, 2021 marked the 1 Year Anniversary of the Intake, Transfer, and Release (ITR) Facility. We recognize and appreciate the tremendous amount of work and tireless dedication that went into the opening of a brand new facility and commend you for the work that continues to be done. You all have made the transition of booking processes a success. You have implemented new workflows, learned nuances of a new facility, and changed the way inmates are managed in every way.

We put together a video slideshow to show you how far you have all come over the past year and to say THANK YOU for all of the hard work.

Without each and every one of you, none of the successes seen over the past year would have been possible!

Congratulations and Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

Every year, Mr. and Mrs. Padilla donate items such as dog food and treats to the MASH Unit. This year, they donated 80 bags of cat and dog food along with treats for all of our four-legged furry friends. The MASH Unit relies on donations such as this to keep our pets healthy and fed. We are so thankful for their generous donations!

Engaging with the Community

We take any opportunity we have to create positive experiences with the community, such as this one. After a call for service, Deputy Reiniger of District IV invited a group of kids to look inside and interact with his patrol vehicle and it looks like they really enjoyed it!
