Dear Maricopa County Staff,
Thank you to those who answered the call to support Maricopa County’s March Presidential Preference Election! We showed the nation in March what we could do as one county, working together to ensure access to the polls while balancing the health and safety of voters and election workers.
Can we count on you again?
With heightened safety precautions in place, I am again calling on you to support Maricopa County in this historic election year. There are opportunities to work on Election Day and before:
-
Support Vote Center Setup — As a member of a setup team, you will work in coordination with poll workers to set up voting locations prior to opening for election activities. Setup Team members will set up equipment, voting booths, tables, and support troubleshooting efforts throughout the election cycle.
- Dates needed:
- July 20 – 21 (Setting up Early Voting and Election Day Vote Centers)
- July 27 – 28 (Setting up Early Voting and Election Day Vote Centers)
- August 3 (Setting up Election Day Vote Centers)
-
Shade Structure Setup — Set up and take down shade structures on Election Day (August 4) and manage activities around the popup tents.
-
Election Night Support — Join the Elections Department after the polls close on August 4 to support our downtown warehouse. Duties include assisting with equipment security and retrieval as the department checks in equipment and ballots from each of the Election Day voting locations.
-
Work at a Vote Center on Election Day — Assist voters as they drop off their ballots or with other Vote Center functions such as a providing ballots to voters after they have checked-in.
There are no specific technical skills required, but employees with a technical background are especially encouraged to get involved.
Your safety is a priority. We have collaborated with the Maricopa County Public Health Department to establish safety protocols to keep our permanent and temporary staff safe. We will be issuing personal protective gear (e.g., gloves, masks) and implementing physical distancing and cleaning procedures. Read more about safety measures here.
Perks
-
As a county employee, you can take paid “Civic Duty Leave” at your regular pay rate during scheduled work hours for participating in training and/or supporting a Setup Team or Vote Center for one (1) day. You will need to take a vacation day for anything more than one day of work, and your leave must be approved by your supervisor.
- You can also get an additional $12 to $15 an hour depending on the assignment.
