Maricopa County completes tabulation of 99% of General Election ballots
Statement from Chair Kate Brophy McGee
“Maricopa County Elections Department staff have been working around the clock to count the vote, and I’m pleased to announce – as of this evening – 99% of the over 1.57 million ballots cast in Tuesday’s General Election have now been processed and tabulated. Achieving this milestone just 72 hours after the close of polls is a tremendous accomplishment anywhere, let alone the nation’s third largest voting jurisdiction. Years of planning go into the administration of each General Election, and I’m incredibly proud of our entire Elections Department. Over 4,000 poll workers helped ensure an outstanding experience for voters on Tuesday and elections staff have been diligently verifying and tabulating ballots ever since. I simply cannot thank all of them enough!
Remaining to be processed are 2,500 provisional ballots, as well as approximately 10,750 ballots that have an issue that requires ‘curing’ by the voter and must be resolved by 5 p.m. Sunday, in accordance with State law. On behalf of the Board of Supervisors, I offer my gratitude to those permanent and temporary Elections Department staff who will continue working until every lawful vote is processed and tabulated.”
