Supervisor's Message
Summer has come and gone, and there are many things to look forward to in addition to the cooler temperatures. In this edition, I’ll be covering the General Election which is fast approaching, important updates to resident concerns, and an exciting community event everyone is welcome to attend.

It’s hard to believe that voting starts so soon, as we are just weeks away from the General Election. The voter registration deadline is October 5 and early voting starts on October 7.
From voting by mail or dropping your ballot off at a dropbox to casting your vote at the polls, you have multiple options. In case you haven’t heard, voters can now turn in their early ballot on Election Day at any voting center and have it instantly tabulated by showing their ID. Over 20,000 people utilized this method in July and it was a key reason behind the faster results we achieved.
E-Bike Ordinance
As the popularity of e-bikes increases our communities have been experiencing tragic accidents involving e-bikes and children.
I am pleased to announce an ordinance for unincorporated Maricopa County land is being drafted in accordance with existing state statute. Many thanks to the Maricopa County Attorney and the Sheriff for their invaluable assistance. This ordinance is aimed at protecting both children who are riding e-bikes and pedestrians. The ordinance will not affect seniors or individuals with disabilities who depend on a motorized vehicle for assistance.

Around the District
District 3 outreach liaison Ben Flores and I are out in the community every week. There have been many wonderful events and meetings over the past month.
West Sunnyslope
The West Sunnyslope Neighborhood Association monthly meeting had a great turnout. Thank you to Nadine Aularia for your amazing work with these neighbors!
Ocotillo Glen
The Ocotillo Glen Neighborhood Watch is very special. These folks care deeply about their community off the I-17 and Glendale and are successfully tackling the challenges they face. Thank you to neighborhood leader extraordinaire Jeff Spellman and Grand Canyon University for your leadership.
Hatcher Urban Businesses (The HUB)

|
|
The HUB has done a great job on Hatcher Road. Shout out to Caroline Lobo and the Hatcher Road businesses for leading this revitalization effort. We are already looking forward to the HUB’s Slope Holiday Market + Parade, coming up Saturday, December 12, from 2-7 p.m.

Neighborhood Synergy Conference
Congratulations to all the business alliances, neighborhood watches and community leaders recognized at the Neighborhood Synergy Conference. It was great seeing new faces and longtime friends who have been supporting their neighborhoods for years. The work you do in your communities is essential. We could not do this without you! Thank you to the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department for hosting this wonderful event!
