Maricopa County Environmental Health Code Fee Changes
The Environmental Services Department inspects and regulates permitted establishments to ensure safe food, water, and waste disposal are provided to the people of Maricopa County. User fees cover 100% of the Department’s plan review and permitting costs.
In 2025, a comprehensive cost recovery analysis was completed in accordance with the 2019 Maricopa User Fee Model. The analysis found that current fees do not cover the cost of services and recommended fee adjustments to recover the full cost.
Through the County’s Enhanced Regulatory Outreach Program (EROP), the Environmental Services Department conducted a public and stakeholder engagement process that resulted in the “ES-2025-004/Maricopa County Environmental Health Code Fee Changes” EROP case.

Following Board of Supervisors approval on August 19, 2026, the revised fee structure will be implemented in Permit Center
|

|
Fees for new permit applications will become effective immediately, while renewal permit fees will be reflected in invoices issued to customers at their next renewal.
|
|
|
To ensure the department operates in a fiscally sustainable manner while continuing to provide essential environmental health services, the Environmental Services Department has conducted a comprehensive review and adjusted permit fees per type across its multiple programs. A detailed fee summary has been made available online to the public and stakeholders through the EROP webpage.
