Today's ruling from the Arizona Court of Appeals provides operational certainty for election officials as Maricopa County prepares for the 2026 election cycle.
As I have consistently stated throughout this process, we should respect and honor the decisions of our courts. I supported complying with Judge Blaney's ruling, and I respect the Court of Appeals' decision to stay that ruling while the appeal moves forward.
I understand the Court's concern that significant changes to election administration should not be implemented during an active election cycle. While the underlying legal questions remain unresolved, maintaining stability for voters, election workers, and county staff must remain our top priority.
Most importantly, I remain confident that the experienced professionals in both the Recorder's Office and Elections Department will conduct a secure, transparent, and well-administered election for the voters of Maricopa County.
