Maricopa County Measles Outbreak Closed |

Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) has closed our latest measles outbreak (four cases total) after two full incubation periods (42 days) without additional cases. With this closure, early MMR vaccination to infants 6-11 months in Maricopa County, is no longer recommended.
While the outbreak is closed, we continue to encourage providers to consider measles in the differential of unvaccinated individuals who present with fever and a rash. Healthcare providers can continue to report suspect cases of measles to MCDPH by calling (602) 506-3747.

It is recommended that Maricopa County providers:
- Consider measles in the differential of unvaccinated individuals who present with fever and a rash, especially with recent travel.
- Minimize exposures of patients and staff utilizing the below infection control guidance.
- Make sure that all patients and clinical staff are adequately vaccinated.
