As I step into the role of Chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, my focus is on getting the basics right—public safety, quality of life, and the issues that matter most to our residents. I shared more about these priorities in my recent interview with KJZZ’s Mark Brodie.

Spur Cross Conservation Area Celebrating 25 Years
It was an honor to help the Town of Cave Creek celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Spur Cross Conservation Area earlier this month on January 9. The desert’s beauty encompasses over two thousand acres of Sonoran landscape with amazing wildlife. This public-private collaboration will continue to bless the community for generations to come.

Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical Station 144
I greatly appreciated the opportunity to join Town of Cave Creek officials and the wonderful community in Desert Hills to celebrate the grand opening of Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical Station 144. Where seconds truly matter, the new station will improve emergency response. Special thanks to Fire Chief Brian Tobin and the brave first responders from Station 144 for their hospitality.

Paradise Valley Men's Breakfast Club
I had the pleasure of speaking with The Town of Paradise Men’s Breakfast Club on January 12 to discuss Maricopa County ongoing initiatives and my priorities as Chair of the Board of Supervisors. Break the Chain Event
It was a privilege to join Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell to kick off a community forum on human trafficking. The event, called Break the Chain, was hosted by Grand Canyon University, to raise awareness of these terrible crimes. 27th Avenue, called “The Blade”, runs adjacent to I-17, Grand Canyon University, small businesses and adjoining neighborhoods. The Blade has gained national notoriety as a human trafficking hot spot. County Attorney Mitchell, Phoenix Police, the Maricopa County Sheriff and my office are working hard to extinguish trafficking in the area. She, along with neighborhood and business groups, have also introduced legislation addressing the demand for sex workers and we are following closely.
Childhelp Superhero Saturday Event
On Saturday, January 17 I joined with many neighborhood leaders, Phoenix Council Members and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego to support Childhelp at Superhero Saturday. Local heroes of every age were celebrated for amazing community volunteerism. A special shoutout to Chief Giordano and a Super Duper Thank You to all these wonderful volunteers.
 CSA's Legislative Priorities 2026
I had the honor of joining fellow Arizona County Supervisors, Alton Joe Shepherd (Apache County) and Paul David (Graham County) and County Supervisors Association (CSA) Executive Director, Craig Sullivan, in a meeting with Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro and his leadership team. We presented CSA's legislative priorities for 2026. I wish both the House and Senate a productive and successful Session.
