Signature Verification Training with Recorder Heap
Thank you to Recorder Heap and his entire team for taking the time to train my team and me on their new signature verification process.
The Recorder's office has implemented updated technology and improved workflow that make the process cleaner, faster, and better equipped to ensure that every legal vote is counted.
A key improvement: every flagged signature is reviewed by a bipartisan team, which has increased review speed by nearly 3x. This quicker pace allows staff to contact voters faster to verify intent.
For those signatures that are flagged, I learned that signature verification issues come from simple, everyday situations, such as pens drying out while signing, natural changes to signatures over time, or common household mix-ups where one spouse signs the other's envelope. These are normal occurrences, and the system is designed to catch and resolve them quickly.
The good news: if a signature still doesn’t match after review, it goes to curing, where voters are contacted by text, phone, email, and mail to confirm their intent.
This commonsense process helps safeguard accuracy while ensuring every eligible voter has the chance to be heard. I trust this process and appreciate the collaborative work being done between our offices to strengthen election integrity for voters across Maricopa County.
Tempe State-of-the-City

Chandler Chats with Chandler Chief of Police
Nothing I love more than spending time in our community!
Thank you AZ Free for hosting me and Chandler Chief of Police, Bryan Chapman. We had meaningful discussions about working within the community to create partnerships that lead to a safe more connected community.
