Tempe: I Declared a State of Emergency
After severe storms hit the East Valley, I declared a local emergency for the City of Tempe. This follows the city’s own declaration and opens the door to potential federal disaster funds to help residents rebuild. Early assessments show more than 200 homes suffered major damage. I’m committed to doing everything I can to help our community recover and I'm grateful to Tempe Mayor Corey Woods for his leadership and partnership.
Thank you, Flood Control!
The Valley has faced major storms in recent weeks. I’m proud that our Flood Control systems in District 2 and across the County worked as designed — safely moving stormwater and protecting neighborhoods. Our crews are now focused on inspections, clean-up, and monitoring receding impoundments. Check out this video that shows just how Flood Controls structures in my district work to keep our communities safe.
Introducing: Paw-litics!
My new way to share updates with my constituents, is with a dog Maricopa County Animal Care & Control, in a video series I call “Paw-litics.” In our first episode, I’m joined by a beautiful and sweet Husky named Tiramisu. The second video featured a cute, docile Aussie-mix named Mocha. The goal is to bring you the top highlights from our formal board meetings while also helping to promote some of the adoptable dogs in our county shelters.
