Arizona Autism Charter Schools Tour
I had the chance to tour Arizona Autism Charter School and was so impressed by the care and commitment of their team. The staff are clearly passionate about supporting students on the autism spectrum, and it shows in the personalized approach they take with every child. From the use of evidence-based practices to their small class sizes, everything is designed to help students succeed both academically and in life. It’s a great example of great teachers meeting the needs of different learners.
Cave Creek Mayor Morris & Town Manager Miller
I really enjoyed spending time with Cave Creek Mayor Bob Morris and Town Manager Grady Miller to talk about the local issues we care about—including public safety, water, and the anticipated growth in District 3. Mayor Morris and I are committed to working together to support the people we serve. I’m grateful for the partnership and dedication to the Cave Creek community.

Emergency Management Meeting with City of Phoenix Vice Mayor, Ann O'Brien
Maricopa County partnered with the City of Phoenix and Vice Mayor Ann O’Brien to share important emergency management information with our shared communities. From natural disasters to public health events, local emergency management plays a vital role in keeping residents safe, informed, and prepared before, during, and after a crisis.
District 3 Comprehensive Plan Update
Maricopa County is developing Framework 2040—a long-range plan to help guide growth, infrastructure, land use, and community services over the next 15 years. This visioning effort will help ensure the County remains responsive to the evolving needs of our residents.
A community meeting was recently held in District 3 to gather input and hear directly from residents about their priorities and concerns.
Your feedback is critical to shaping a thoughtful, balanced plan that reflects the values and needs of our diverse communities. Click the link below to participate. If you have questions, please reach out to my office at maricopa.gov/District3.

District 3 Neighborhood Meetings
I recently had the pleasure of speaking to the Cactus Wren Block Watch, the Hatcher Urban Businesses (HUB) group, and ANDPhx Republican Club at their community meetings. It’s always great to hear directly from residents and local business owners about the work they’re doing to keep our communities, vibrant, and connected. Thank you to everyone who attended these events.
Coffee with a Cop
|
I so enjoyed attending Phoenix PD's “Coffee with a Cop” at Christown Spectrum Mall. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with officers, thank them for their service, ask questions, and connect with community members. County Attorney Rachel Mitchell also attended, and community members were thrilled.

Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center
I was privileged to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center’s new facility at 4250 E. Carefree Highway in Cave Creek. This impressive new campus represents a significant expansion in the food bank’s capacity to serve our community, offering enhanced space for food distribution, volunteer coordination, and critical support services. Like our own Desert Mission Food Bank, Foothills Boasts wonderful volunteer participation. To learn more about Foothills Food Bank’s services or to find out how you can get involved, visit foothillsfoodbank.com.
TSMC Tour
I had the opportunity to tour TSMC’s cutting-edge semiconductor facility right here in Maricopa County, District 3. The scale and speed of the construction underway is phenomenal. The first fab plant is open and operating displaying impressive innovation. TSMC'S investment is not only transforming our local economy—creating high-wage jobs and supporting a robust supply chain—but also playing a vital role in strengthening our nation’s technological competitiveness. We’re proud to have TSMC as a key partner in shaping the future of our community and our country.

Congratulations Jeff Spellman
Congratulations to Jeff Spellman on the incredible transformation of a long-vacant K-Mart into Innovation 27—a workforce training campus that will provide real opportunity for young people in west Phoenix. Jeff and I have worked together on many projects over the years. I can personally attest to Jeff’s vision and deep connection to the community turned an idea into a $30 million investment in jobs, education, and hope. This project is a shining example of what engaged residents can accomplish. Well done, Jeff!.

Groundbreaking - Maricopa County Elections Center
I have always believed that elections are about people - voters, first and foremost, but also about the people who plan for and administer elections. The project team that designed this building did so with a focus on people, and I truly believe that this facility is in the public's best interest and will make our free and fair elections run even better.
Parks Update
Maricopa County's annual fire ban begins on May 1st and runs through September 30th. Should Maricopa County experience an unusually dry monsoon season over the summer, the fire ban for the regional park may be extended.

Community input is vital. Join our first stakeholder meeting on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 3–5 PM at the Board of Supervisors Auditorium (205 W. Jefferson St., Phoenix) or online via GoToWebinar. A second meeting will follow on August 28.

Maricopa County Tentative FY 2026 Budget
The County’s conservative budgeting philosophy has long protected county taxpayers from potential economic downtowns or unanticipated costs. I was proud to vote for such a responsible budget that puts money where it matters—with nearly 50% going to public safety.
Library Update
2025 Summer Reading Program registrations opened on May 1st. The theme of this year’s program is Color Our World, encouraging readers to explore themes of art, culture, and creativity.
