Update on Negotiations with Recorder
"We have entered a critical final phase of the negotiation of a new Shared Services Agreement to administer elections in Maricopa County, especially since Recorder Justin Heap unilaterally terminated the then existing SSA in January. It is in the best interest of the Maricopa County voters, including all of the hardworking County and Recorder staff, for us to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
At a special public meeting tomorrow, the Board of Supervisors will receive an update from staff and legal counsel on the progress made to date. This will include a timeline of negotiations and a detailed explanation of how the Recorder's feedback has been thoroughly incorporated into our latest offer, which has been continually made in good faith by us, even under threat of litigation by the Recorder. Following the presentation, which will also detail the Recorder’s inaccuracies, the Board will consider action to move the process along in service of all Maricopa County voters. I look forward to the presentation and possible Board action."
