Statement on Strong Communities v. Richer Settlement
"I can’t believe we are settling a lawsuit filed by a group of conspiracy theorists who are so clearly anti-voter. Strong Communities is a group that has been filing frivolous lawsuits against Maricopa County since their dear leader told them the 2020 election was rigged. We know it wasn’t, and I’m proud of the work the Board of Supervisors did to stand up for the integrity of our election process and our voters.
Unfortunately, this settlement feels like a step backward. I strongly believe we should be defending legal voters who have followed the law and attested to their U.S. citizenship. Instead, by settling, it feels like we’re rewarding a group trying to legislate through the judicial system and whose goal is to treat some voters like second-class citizens.
That's why I voted no."
