NEWS BITES
Maricopa County Invests in Affordable Housing
Economic conditions, a global pandemic, and a-fast growing population are a few of the factors that are contributing to a rapidly growing need for affordable housing and homelessness in Arizona. Maricopa County is facing this issue head on by making more than half a billion dollars in historic investments to bring more housing options and shelter beds online. These solutions are part of a larger strategy that Maricopa County has deployed to provide housing options along a continuum of needs ranging from urgent, short-term shelter needs for people experiencing homelessness to programs that rescue families from eviction and provide financial assistance to stimulate homeownership opportunities, particularly among low-income buyers.
Keep Your Tires Filled with Air
Properly inflated and aligned tires increase fuel efficiency and help reduce vehicle emissions that contribute to air pollution. Save gas, save money, and protect air quality by making sure your tires are properly maintained.

Tails Around Town
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and the Parks & Recreation Department are teaming up to offer Tails Around Town on Tour, a new take of the original Tails Around Town program where residents have the opportunity to take shelter dogs on a field trip at a County park. The first tour stop will be at Usery Mountain Regional Park on April 6. This adventure gives dogs a break from the shelter, helps them be seen by potential adopters, and allows Animal Care & Control staff to learn more about the dogs in their care. If you’re interested in participating, sign up for session one (9:30-10:30am) here and session two (11:00am-12:00pm) here.

Pet of the Week
Cammie was abandoned and let loose in the lobby of the shelter, but despite this rocky start, it hasn't stopped her from becoming the vivacious and lovely girl we have come to love. She loves zooming around with her favorite stuffy, enjoys pets, and happily sits for treats. With her sweet nature and eagerness for adventure, she’ll make a wonderful companion for an active and loving home. Cammie is already spayed, which means she can go home today! Visit Maricopa.gov/Pets to meet your new best friend.
Happy Tails
"In December of 2022, I brought home McFly (formerly Junior) from the Maricopa County Animal Shelter. He was gentle and sweet, but also extremely shy and unsure of what was going on. From the very first night, he snuggled up to me, both seeking and providing warmth and comfort. As time went on, McFly settled in to his new life, and we became the best of friends. He goes on hikes, trail runs, paddleboard floats, road trips, and backpacking adventures in the mountains. He loves dog parks, creeks, rivers, and the beach. More than anything, he loves people. His adopted family and friends have never been greeted with such excitement!
