2025 Arizona Veterans StandDown

Maricopa County Departments were out in full force at the Arizona StandDown to offer services to veterans in need.

• Our Human Services team was there to give out information about housing assistance, workforce development programs, and senior services.
• Animal Care & Control offered free licensing on-site to veteran pet owners.
• Human Resources informed veterans of open positions at the County.
• Our Justice Courts and the Office of the Public Defender worked to dismiss low-level civil charges and reduce fines that may have been barriers to employment for veterans.
• The County Attorney's Office is helping veterans resolve non-victim or non-DUI cases, lower fines, and sometimes end probation.
• Public Health offered free on-site vaccinations.

Pet of the Week

Tyler is a calm, timid soul who loves a good belly rub once he gets to know you. He walks well on a loose leash, politely ignores other dogs, and enjoys treats—especially cheese! Though a bit shy at first, his playful side shines through over time, making him a wonderful companion for a patient home. Tyler's adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, microchip, and vaccines. Happy Tails

We had been looking for a dog and spent a couple days going through the pound trying to find a good one. It's a hard thing to walk around and meet so many dogs that need a home. We finally decided on "Bazoo," now named "Dumas." We were told he was a handful, but after a couple of weeks of decompression and tons of reassurance, he is the BEST dog!
