2025 Honor Walk & Run
I am so grateful to participate in this year's Honor Run. The event supported the Phoenix Police Foundation's efforts to send the squad of Fallen Officer Zane Coolidge to Police Week in Washington, D.C. next month. At this powerful event, Officer Coolidge's name will be engraved on the National Memorial Wall, honoring his service and dedication.
Melrose Street Fest
The Melrose Street Fair is an amazing one-day event held annually in the Melrose District along 7th Avenue, between Indian School and Campbell Roads. The fair celebrates local art, music and food. The event is free - hosted by the Seventh Avenue Merchants Association (SAMA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the unique character and assets of the Melrose Curve in Phoenix.
Slope Fest 2025
It was so fun to take part in Sunnyslope’s largest annual signature event—a family-friendly celebration with something for everyone! Maricopa County was well represented by the Sheriff’s Office, Flood Control and our Elections Department.
Community Notes
Recently, I was privileged to speak to the Cactus Park Community Alliance, North Mountain Business Alliance & the Anthem Neighborhood Watch about Maricopa County. The Sheriff’s office attended the Anthem event to educate the group about the MCSO’s posse program and recruit volunteers.

It was an honor to join Sheriff Sheridan and County Attorney Mitchell to meet with House Speaker Montenegro and Representative Livingston. We discussed the county’s priority public safety legislation that would ask the voters to extend the jail tax that has been in effect for twenty-seven years.
Greater Phoenix Chamber Event
Chairman Thomas Galvin and I spoke to business leaders at the Greater Phoenix Chamber’s “AZ in Focus” event hosted by Fennemore & Craig.
Emergency Management Presentation
Maricopa County and the City of Phoenix partnered to present our shared constituencies with information about emergency management. Local government emergency management is essential to ensuring residents are protected, informed, and supported before, during, and after crises—whether it's a natural disaster, a public health emergency, or other unexpected event.
Farm Bureau Breakfast
Maricopa County Farm Bureau hosted our Farm-City Breakfasts at the end of March. These breakfast events are spread across Maricopa County and provide an opportunity to bring together local community members, the agriculture community and elected officials. I visited with Senate President Warren Peterson and Senator Tim Dunn, and had the opportunity to meet Representative Lisa Fink.
2025 Stormwater Pollution Contest
I cast my votes in the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Poster Contest alongside District 4 Supervisor Debbie Lesko. We had a hard time deciding! Every year, 3rd–6th graders across Maricopa County put their creativity to work ----over 500 entries came in this year! The winning posters are featured in our annual calendar to help spread the word about keeping our water clean.
Arizona Chapter of Associated General Contractors
I appreciated the opportunity to provide a county update to the Arizona Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. I heard directly from industry leaders about the challenges and opportunities they’re seeing in the field. It’s always valuable to engage with those helping to shape our region’s growth and infrastructure.

District 3 Business Spotlight
I joined Mary Anne Ramirez and loyal patrons to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of her small business, Books on 7th. Bookworms can browse and buy here to their heart's content!
Maricopa County's Economic Strength, Efficient Use of Taxpayer Dollars
I'm proud to share that over 40% of Maricopa County's per-resident expenditures go towards needed public safety measures. Public safety is one of my office's top priorities, and this funding is critical for investigating and prosecuting crime, protecting and providing services for vulnerable juveniles and adults, and ensuring our County continues to grow in a responsible and safe manner.
Adoption Spotlight
Beethoven is a deaf pup who would love a chance at a forever home! Once he warms up to you, he becomes a playful, affectionate companion who loves toys, belly rubs, and exploring the world around him. He loves people of all ages and would make a great family pet. Beethoven's adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, vaccines and microchip. Visit Maricopa.gov/Pets to meet your new best friend!
