Maricopa County Partners to Increase Affordable Housing Stock

Maricopa County invested $1.6 million into the second phase of Central Phoenix affordable housing complex, Acacia Heights. The new development features a total of 66 units, including 57-units designated for families earning 40-60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) and nine workforce housing units for those earning 80-100 percent of the AMI. Rents at Acacia Heights II will be based on household income, ensuring affordability for residents. Prices range from $771-$1,156 for a one-bedroom unit, $926-$1,389 for a two-bedroom unit, and $1,069-$1,604 for a three-bedroom unit.

County Invests in New Surprise Community and Resource Center
Maricopa County and its partners broke ground on the new Surprise Community and Resource Center. The County invested $18 million into the project. Maricopa County invested $18 million in American Rescue Plan Funds to help build the new center which will provide resources for families, seniors, youth, and vulnerable populations.

Volunteer for the Community Action Commission
The Community Action Commission is looking for Maricopa County residents to volunteer to serve on their board, where they would advise the Human Services Department on conditions of poverty, how to help low-income families with daily challenges, and supporting individuals to become self-reliant. This board includes individuals from all over Maricopa County, including low-income residents, public officials, and members from private sector.
