Canvassing the Election
My colleagues and I canvassed the ‘24 election at the end of November. Donald Trump won Maricopa County, defeating Kamala Harris by 71,515 votes. 51.0% to 47.5%.
- Turnout was 80%
- 2 million people voted
- 631,000 voters dropped off ballots at Voting Centers
My deep appreciation goes out to the 4,300 election workers, including dedicated volunteers and County employees, for ensuring this election was carried out smoothly.
New Supervisor Orientation
I created and oversaw an Orientation program for the elected incoming Supervisors. The two-day program included presentations by the county manager and staff overseeing departments including budget, air quality, planning, elections, public health, and animal care. When I joined the board in 2021, there was no formal onboarding program, and I had to figure out my way. I wanted to ensure my new colleagues were provided with the resources they need to hit the ground running. It’s been a great program, they are ready for 2025!
$1 Million Investment in Mesa Public Schools Workforce Development Program
My office has extended its agreement with Mesa Public Schools and allocated an additional $1 million in Community Solutions Funding to the Mesa Youth Creative Agency (MYCA). This investment will support MYCA in offering hands-on creative training and work experience to 40 students each semester, benefiting both participants and local employers.
Meeting with County Attorney Rachel Mitchell
I recently had a great meeting with County Attorney Rachel Mitchell. We are aligned in making sure that the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is fighting for justice. The Board of Supervisors provide the budget for the County Attorney’s office, and I think it’s essential that Rachel has the resources she needs to fight for victims and put away the bad guys. We are ready for 2025!
