Bill's Farewell Message

As the year winds to an end, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the time I have spent serving District 3. It has been the honor of my professional lifetime to serve District 3 and the County alongside men of integrity including Jack Sellers, Thomas Galvin, Clint Hickman and Steve Gallardo. During my 8 years on the Board we tackled challenges ranging from homelessness and housing affordability to the COVID-19 pandemic and Elections. Through it all, this Board maintained its integrity and never wavered in the face of partisan pressure.

Thank you for investing your trust in me. I have been humbled by your support and tireless desire to make our community an even better place to live. Although my term on the Board of Supervisors ends at the close of the year, I hope to still remain involved in our community and look forward to seeing many of you out and about the District. Merry Christmas!

Highlights

It is hard to believe that it has been nearly eight years since I began my term on the Board of Supervisors in 2017. One of my favorite traditions is the “pet showcase” where the Board promotes animal adoptions from Animal Care & Control at the outset of our Formal Meetings.

District 3 County Coffee Events

The foundation of my time on the Board has always been working hard on behalf of my constituents. One of the best ways for me to hear from the community was through our County Coffee events. I thoroughly enjoyed getting out into the District to hear directly from you, my neighbors!

Maricopa County Events

I am proud that during my eight years on the Board of Supervisors, I have supported the Board’s efforts to make Maricopa County a great place to work. By attracting top talent to the County, we better serve our community. One part of that effort has been supporting the County’s health and wellness events, including our Bike to Work and Walk to Chase Field events. Nothing like some fresh air to start the day.

Public Safety Funding Committee

At the beginning of the year, Chairman Sellers commissioned a Public Safety Funding Committee to review and present solutions to the coming expiration of a long-time funding source for adult and juvenile correctional facilities in Maricopa County. On December 9 the Committee presented their findings to the Board and the Board adopted legislative priorities for 2025 based on the Committee’s feedback. District 3’s representative on the Committee was Fire Chief Brian Tobin. Thank you to Chief Tobin and the other citizens for their involvement in this important process.
