Statement on Passing of Max Wilson
"Max Wilson was Mr. West Valley, and his influence can be felt across the growing and vibrant district we were both fortunate to represent.
Max moved to Arizona after serving our country in the Air Force. His first stop was Luke Air Force Base, where he worked as a civilian and quickly realized the need for more housing options for airmen and their families.
He made it his literal business to find them homes, starting a career in real estate development that not only supported military families, but also contributed to the economic development of the West Valley.
As an elected leader—first on the Litchfield Park City Council and then as the District 4 Supervisor for Maricopa County from 2002 to 2013—Max continued his advocacy for the base and its families, and for the growth of local business.
In succeeding him on the Board, representing District 4, I’ve fought for many of the same things Max did. And like him, I’ve understood this position is not about the man or woman holding it. This is the people’s seat, and it always will be the people’s seat. I’m grateful for Max’s service to our community. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, including his wife, Judy, and his four daughters who were his pride and joy."
