Boulder View Fire Update
Good morning,
A large fire known as the Boulder View Fire has burned over 2,500 acres in Scottsdale. Around midnight last night, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office notified the 550 residents living from 136th St to 144th St / from Dove Valley Road to Tonto National Forest that they needed to evacuate. Residents living nearby, from 144th St to 152nd St / from Dove Valley Rd to Dixileta remain on standby to evacuate based on the fire's progress.
For those of you who have already evacuated, please know that the Red Cross has opened an evacuation center at Cactus Shadows High School (5802 E Dove Valley Rd). Evacuation shelters have been set up for large animals at Cave Creek Rodeo Grounds, Reigning Grace Ranch, Arizona Equine Rescue, and Cave Creek Outfitters.
For those of you preparing to evacuate, make sure to prioritize gathering your pets, important documents, prescription medications, and any water or snacks you have available. Please drive with care and follow the directions provided by emergency personnel. You can keep track of real-time fire and evacuation updates at Maricopa.gov or on X at @MaricopaReady.
My thoughts and prayers go out to every household and resident affected by this fire. I'd also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the resilient and brave first responders who are working long hours to keep District 2 residents safe. We will get through this difficult time together.
Stay safe,
Tom Galvin
