TODAY'S KEY MESSAGE
Board Cuts Tax Rate for 4th Straight Year
|
|
|
Maricopa County supervisors are cutting the property tax rate for a fourth straight year while trimming the overall county budget by 11%. The final FY 2025 budget, approved unanimously today, demonstrates the Board’s commitment to easing the burden on families and individuals at a time of persistently high prices and statewide financial headwinds.
During today's presentation (see video above), an outside economist explains how Maricopa County is an efficient government, spending less than $1,000 per resident where some similar-sized counties are spending three or four times as much. Maricopa County also maintains a low property tax rate for citizens, with tax levy growth under 3% over the past five years.

MCDOT Launching Connected Vehicle Safety Project
The Federal Highway Administration has awarded Maricopa County a $19.6 million grant to launch the Connected Vehicle Acceleration Zone Project. The project will put Communications technology at 750 intersections in Maricopa County and 400 onboarding units in emergency vehicles to help prevent crashes. The technology will provide real-time data about pedestrians in crosswalks and other hazards. 42,000 people die in pedestrian and vehicle accidents in the United States every year. The goal of this project is to decrease vehicle deaths and accidents and make the roads safer for everyone.
Heat Billboard Partnership
More than 100 digital billboards across the Valley will display critical local heat relief resources, thanks to a partnership between Maricopa County, Clear Channel Outdoor, the Maricopa Association of Governments and the City of Phoenix. Billboards owned by Clear Channel Outdoor will promote 211 Arizona to direct at-risk community members to one of 230+ local heat relief sites that can help them stay cool during Arizona's dangerous late spring and summer time heat.

He happily sits for treats, and he only has one goal in life: to be as silly as possible. Perry will go home neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
