Rose Fire Update
Good morning,
Fire season has come quickly this summer and we are monitoring the situation along Highway 60 near Wickenburg every hour. The good people of Rio Vista Hills received the “GO” alert last night as the Rose Fire crept close to their homes and surrounded their properties. As we head into another hot day, Turtle Mountain Ranch and Reposa Heights are on “READY” status – meaning they should prepare for possible evacuation.
I receive regular updates from the County’s Department of Emergency Management about this fire. Our Parks Department informed me the facilities at the Hassayampa River Preserve did not burn, but the park is closed today for visitor safety. I want to thank our staff, the firefighters, and the federal and state agencies who partner with us during these emergencies.
Firefighters are making progress on the Rose Fire, but it is not contained. Please take the warnings seriously and keep your families safe this fire season. For those of you in the Wickenburg area who need assistance, you can go to the Wickenburg Community Center at 160 N. Valentine St.
You can visit this webpage or follow the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management on X (@azstateforestry) for real-time Rose Fire updates. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.
Stay vigilant,
Clint Hickman
