Supervisor's Message

Summertime is upon the Valley of the Sun. As temperatures peak, please take steps to keep your family, neighbors, and pets safe. Let’s work together to keep kids safe by our pools, make water available to those who work and play outside and most importantly find shelter for those experiencing homelessness. Maricopa County, the City of Phoenix and the Maricopa Association of Governments has teamed up with the 211 system to provide information and resources to our residents being impacted by the excessive heat being experienced in our region. Please reach out if you or someone you love needs help.

Maricopa County Budget

I am proud to have led the effort to shape the FY 25 budget for Maricopa County. We have reduced our property taxes for the fourth year in a row. Our conservative approach reduces spending by 11% from FY 24 while increasing spending in our public safety departments. The budget highlights our approach to creating more affordable housing, constructing and maintaining our infrastructure and protecting our pets. As our region continues to grow, Maricopa County will continue to explore process improvements and technologies to better serve our residents while not raising taxes.

Ribbon Cutting for the New Maricopa County East Valley Animal Shelter

This was a great day for our community, particularly animal lovers in the East Valley. We were able to celebrate the opening of a facility that was years in the making. This shelter represents a major step forward for animal care and control in the nation's 4th largest county.

2024 Tom Manos Service Award Winner

Congratulations to Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy Michael Martinez. It was an honor to award him the 2024 Tom Manos Service Award. We are grateful for your service and for carrying on Tom Manos' legacy of commitment to serving your community.

2024 East Valley Mayors' Prayer Breakfast

Leaders from East Valley businesses, public service sector, and various faith groups and organizations came together to support communities in the 2024 East Valley Mayors' breakfast. We experienced wonderful performances and listened to inspiring stories shared by STARS and Civitan Foundation.

Thank you to Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community for hosting and organizing such a powerful event.

Treasury Secretary Yellen Tours Maricopa County

I was honored to join Mayor Giles and Mayor Gallego in welcoming US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to Arizona as she toured Mesa Community College and a Maricopa County Work Force Development site. With the recent investment of $100 billion dollars in chip manufacturing into Maricopa County, we are working together to train our residents for the thousands of jobs being created. The jobs of tomorrow are being created here and we must educate and train our local community so they can take advantage of these new opportunities.

Gilbert FFA Awards Banquet

I was invited to attend the 2024 Gilbert Future Farmers of America awards dinner. Nothing is more inspiring than watching our youth take on the challenges of agriculture in our State. From urban encroachment, to water scarcity and the ever increasing heat, these students are dedicated to finding solutions. Their commitment should be a lesson to all of us that problems don’t get fixed by words. It takes education and dedication to solve the challenges facing our agricultural community in Arizona. I’m confident that these students have what it take to lead us into the future.

Your one stop shop for Environmental Services (ENV), Planning & Development (PND), Transportation (MCDOT), Flood Control (FCD) and Air Quality (AQ) permitting, planning and operational permitting activities. If your project or task involves food, air quality, other environmental factors, or flood control, you will need a Maricopa County permit. If your project or task is taking place within unincorporated Maricopa County, you will need a Maricopa County permit.
