District Highlights
Approved Tentative Budget, Lowered Tax Rate
Last month, my colleagues and I approved the tentative budget for FY 2025. We’re cutting the property tax rate for the fourth year in a row and trimming total spending by 11%. We will maintain investment in public safety, including the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, which now constitutes almost 50% of our budget. We oversee the second largest budget in Arizona, only the state budget is larger. However, we are proud to boast a balanced budget and Maricopa County has NO debt. We are the most fiscally conservative government in the nation.

Annual Lake and Trail Safety Event
Last year, I initiated Maricopa County's annual Lake and Trail safety awareness event, and last month we successfully held our 2nd annual event at Lake Pleasant. Even the most experienced boaters, swimmers, and hikers can fall victim to fatal boating accidents or heat-related illnesses on our trails. These incidents can be prevented if we work together to prioritize safety. Thank you, Maricopa County, Sheriff Skinner, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Game and Fish Department and Maricopa Parks Department, for joining me to deliver this important message!

St. Vincent de Paul’s New Facility
It was a beautiful morning at St. Vincent de Paul’s for the grand opening of a new facility that will help 100 unhoused seniors, veterans, and adults with disabilities transition into permanent housing. Maricopa County provided about 30% of the funding to the project which also features a companion animal clinic, a workforce readiness program and boasts a 98% success rate for exiting homelessness. Congratulations to Shannon Clancy for the incredible work done by St Vincent de Paul. And a big thank you to Ryan Companies for the great work on construction.

Mesa: Annual Fallen Officer Memorial
I was honored to attend the Mesa Fallen Officer Memorial to show my respect and gratitude to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our community to keep us safe. We honor them.
Phoenix: Councilman Robinson Meeting Highlights
It was a pleasure to meet with Phoenix Councilman Kevin Robinson. I provided him updates from the County and we discussed important topics including public safety, budget, constituent concerns, and development plans for his district. It was a great discussion, and I am proud of the dedicated work he does on the Phoenix City Council. We have a good working partnership.
