Walk to Chase Field
On May 2nd Supervisor Gallardo along with other Board members as well as a huge group of County employees participated in the annual Walk to Chase Field event. This event aims to promote wellness and healthy, active lifestyles. This is a one mile walk and is also a great way to promote air quality and alternative transportation options.

Grand Opening of Flood District Facility

Supervisor Gallardo recently attended the grand opening of the new Flood Control District facility in Buckeye. The Supervisor spoke during the ceremony and applauded the efforts of everyone involved in the project. Assistant County Manager, Darcy Kober was also in attendance. After the ceremony, Supervisor Gallardo along with Darcy Kober were taken on a tour of the facility. They witnessed actions plans showcasing how this facility will support and protect the citizens of the Buckeye area. They also learned that the building has a secondary function of being a backup flood control hub in the event that another facility becomes inoperable. Additionally, The Supervisor met the entire team that facilitates this new building. Witnessing their excitement at this event truly displays their commitment to the citizens of Maricopa County.
Michael Carbajal Street Naming Ceremony
Phoenix native and world champion boxer, Michael Carbajal was recently recognized by the City of Phoenix for his amazing accomplishments and work in the community. The unveiling of "Michael Carbajal Way" signifies the achievements of Michael Carbajal as well as the services his 9th Street Gym offers to the community. The sign is located on Filmore in between 9th Street and 10th Street, which is where Michael grew up and still lives. Salt River Flats Grand Opening
Supervisor Gallardo along with Chairman Sellers and Governor Hobbs participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Salt River Flats project. This community is the newest edition to affordable housing in Phoenix and aims to support families living with 60% or below the average income in the area. There are a total of 192 units available which consist of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. These housing units are essential for working families in need. This project will have a tremendous impact on the community, and we can't wait to see what else we can accomplish.

Need to license your dog?
The Maricopa County Animal Care & Control department offers licensing services to all residents of the County. Licensing your dog is important because if they get lost it will be easier for officials to identify and locate them. Licenses must be renewed yearly and start at $19. Avondale Juneteenth
The City of Avondale is hosting a Juneteenth event at the Avondale Civic Center on Wednesday, June 19th. This event will take place from 5pm - 8pm and consist of activities, entertainment, and even some speaker sessions to discuss the importance of Freedom Day.

Goodyear Juneteenth Family Day
The City of Goodyear is also hosting a Juneteenth event on Wednesday, June 19th. The Goodyear Recreation Campus is where this event will be held, and it takes place from 6pm - 9pm. The event will have speeches and live performances. Additionally, food vendors will be present and there will be plenty of activities.

Goodyear Night Market
Starting June 30th from 5 - 9pm the City of Goodyear is hosting the Goodyear Night Market. It will be a night of great fun and gives the community a chance to interact with numerous vendors in cooperation with E.L.L.A. and Mujeres Mercado. The event will take place at the Goodyear Civic Center. There will also be live music and food trucks! This organization also has similar Mercado events in Maryvale.
