ADOT Worker Adopts Dog He Rescued from Freeway
Dolly the Dog was running, scared and confused, along the I-17 freeway during rush hour last week. With some wrangling, she found herself in the care of ADOT Incident Response Unit Officer Richard Dimaio. While they only spent 90 minutes together before a Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Officer picked her up, Dimaio said he felt a special bond with her. Dimaio waited the allotted time to see if an owner would come claim Dolly at Animal Care and Control. When no one showed up, Animal Care and Control called him and he adopted her that day! Dolly’s adoption fees were sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation. All fees are waived on dogs 6 months and older starting May 15th.

Happy Tails
“Momo was the last of his brothers and sisters to be picked. The second we came to pick him up, he walked to the front of his kennel and stood on his hind legs showing us his cute puppy belly. We knew he was gonna be our boy from that moment. Every day with Momo since then has been the biggest blessing. He’s a rambunctious 4 year old with big puppy energy still, but his pawrents love him just the same."
