Message From Bill
Although the first day of summer is not until June 20, it certainly feels like summer is in full swing here in Maricopa County as we had our first week of consistent daily highs in the triple digits. Despite the heat, we aren’t slowing down here in District 3! May was filled with a number of great community events and important work – including the Board’s passing of the FY 2025 Budget Plan as well as the 2024 Elections Plan.
Of course, your feedback and engagement are vital to our success, and I look forward to continuing our work together to make District 3 an even better place to live, work, and thrive. Thank you for your ongoing support!

District 3 was committed to bee-ing healthy by participating in the annual Walk to Work Day! Supervisor Gates joined nearly two hundred Maricopa County employees in their walk from the Administrative Building to Chase Field. Supervisor Gates donned a bee specialist costume in honor of Matt Hilton, who helped relocate a hive of angry bees during the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game on May 1st. |

Maricopa County FY2025 Budget
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a tentative FY 2025 Budget, which includes a property tax rate cut for the 4th straight year in a row! Maintaining the Board’s tradition of fiscal conservativism, the FY 2025 budget cuts spending approximately 11% from the FY24 spending levels. However, the County continues to provide excellent service to our constituents - and will continue to invest in public safety, election administration and workforce development. The County successfully allocated the federal post-pandemic relief funds which will make a meaningful impact on the community's well-being. These resources are dedicated to expanding affordable housing, supporting individuals to exit homelessness, connecting people with new career and education opportunities, and improve health services and infrastructure. The Budget is scheduled for a final vote on June 24th. To watch the full meeting on May 20th, please click the link below.
Congratulations to Maricopa County Risk Management

It features:
- Near real-time data on heat-related hospital visits in addition to data on heat-related deaths
- Comparative data for heat-related deaths and hospital visits for 2023 and 2024
- Patient characteristics by age, race, and sex to demonstrate who is at highest risk from heat and inform prevention efforts
