Supervisor Bill Gates Addresses Election Calendar Issue

Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates addressed the deadline for the election calendar issue over the weekend on "Sunday Square Off".

He said election administrators need a solution by Friday, February 9^th to make adjustments to the Primary schedule and guarantee military voters receive ballots on time.

Make Sure You are Ready to Vote in the Presidential Preference Election

Registered Republicans and Democrats will have the opportunity to vote for their party’s Presidential Nominee in the March Presidential Preference Election on March 19, 2024. This election only happens every four years when the Office of the President of the United States is on the ballot. This is considered a “closed primary” because voters not registered as Democrat or Republican may not participate. This is different than a regular Arizona Primary Election where Independent or Party Not Declared voters may choose to vote in either a Republican or Democratic Primary.

Maricopa County Employee Climbs to Mt. Everest Base Camp

Maricopa County Department of Transportation Project Resource Manager, Gant Yasanayake trained for four years to climb the 18,000 feet in elevation to Mt. Everest Base Camp. The 62-year-old civil engineer did the 40-mile trek over 9 days to acclimate to the elevation. His training regimen consisted of walking 6-12 miles a day, stair stepping, and yoga. Yasanayake is already planning his next adventure which will be in Antarctica.

Heart of Sunnyslope

Save the date for the Heart of Sunnyslope on February 24^th. Maricopa County Department of Public Health will be offering free and low-cost health resources for the whole family. There will also be music, kid’s activities, and fun for the whole family.

Confidential STD Testing

Many sexually transmitted diseases have no symptoms. The only way you can be sure of your status is to get tested. Maricopa County Department of Public Health offers low-cost STD testing at their clinic in Phoenix, Monday through Friday.

Spay and Neuter Awareness Month

February is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month. We have more than 800 dogs in our care, including at least four puppy litters. One of the best ways our community can combat pet overpopulation is to spay and neuter their pets!

The small border terrier puppies will be going up for adoption once their stray hold ends, but the other two families are in urgent need of experienced fosters.
