Youth All-Stars Amateur Boxing Showcase

On July 8th Supervisor Gallardo, in partnership with Rodriguez Boxing Club, hosted a free boxing tournament at the Atkinson Middle School Gym. This event was a huge hit and brought in over 500 people. About 20 matches were officiated in varying weight classes and age groups. We even had official referees from USA Boxing come out to support the young athletes as well as help them experience how real Olympic-style boxing is organized. As for other festivities we had a live DJ as well as catered food for all guests.

$2.2 Million Summer Youth Workforce Program

Recently the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved $2.2 million of funding to the Summer Youth Workforce Program that will help 16 to 21 year olds get real hands on job experience. This program is vital for the support and engagement of our next generation of problem-solvers.
