TODAY'S KEY MESSAGE
Grand Opening of Southeast Justice Center
|
|
Staff from the Maricopa County Justice Courts and Superior Court will begin moving in the new Southeast Justice Center on March 31st. The new $61 million building combines 4 justice courts into one convenient, accessible, convenient, and more secure location in Mesa.
“We are opening a brand-new building that combines 4 courts into a single new high-tech building,” said Vice Chairman Jack Sellers, District 1. “It’s just fantastic. It’ going to improve security, efficiency and allow our justices to work more closely together.”
The new high-tech building will eliminate three leases and repurpose one county-owned building saving the County almost $700,000 annually in leasing costs.

Maricopa County Celebrates Groundbreaking of Centerline on Glendale
Centerline on Glendale will add 368 affordable housing units to the West Valley housing stock. This groundbreaking project was partially funded by Maricopa County with an investment of $6 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars. Centerline at Glendale is Arizona's first affordable housing community to be financed using state low-income housing tax credits.
"Remember what they say about how to eat an elephant: you do it one bite at a time. That's the mindset we need to have as we look at affordable housing in our region," said Chairman Clint Hickman, District 4. "It's going to take a while to get our inventory where it needs to be, but the addition of nearly 400 new rentals in the heart of Glendale is an example of how we can address our affordable housing shortage with one investment and one partnership at a time."

In addition, 500 to 800 native tall pot trees, such as Velvet Mesquites, Palo Verdes, and other native tree species provided by the Flood Control District, will be planted in the park. Pet of the Week
Meet Pirate
Pirate is a three-legged boy who can’t wait to show off how great he is to his new family. He doesn’t really see being a “tripod” as a disability—he still loves to play fetch! He will bark with the ball in his mouth until you agree to throw it. After a good round of fetch, he’ll lean up against you for pets. Pirate is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready to go home today!
Happy Tails
“The moment we laid eyes on this handsome boy we fell in love!! He came to us very timid and afraid of everyone, but fast forward a couple months and he’s the most goofy, ornery, and loving baby! His husky side shows VERY much especially when it comes to sharing his mamas love. Lobo loves going on walks and laying in bed with his moms. He will talk to you about how much he dislikes squeaker toys but will kiss you endlessly if you give him chicken. Lobo has completely changed our life for the better, I hope more people out there can bring these babies to their furever home!” – Wendy G.
