Animal Care and Control Offers Free Pet Vaccines
Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is partnering with national nonprofit Petco Love to give pets their best shot for a healthy life by distributing free pet vaccines for Maricopa County’s pets. As puppy and kitten season approaches, pet exposure to contagious and deadly diseases – parvovirus, distemper, and panleukopenia – increases but is preventable with a simple vaccine. MCACC aims to vaccinate more than 300 pets through this effort.
Free vaccines will be distributed March 18th, March 25th and March 26th from 9AM to 12PM at 2801 W. Durango Street Phoenix, AZ 85009.
This is a first come, first serve drive-thru event. The vaccines distributed through the Petco Love initiative will be the DAPPv. MCACC will also provide microchips to dogs who need one, sponsored by our partners at LovePup. Rabies and licensing will also be provided at no cost to pet owners via MCACC.

Tips for Weed Removal
The warmer, drier conditions during spring and summer months contribute to increased concentrations of dust in the air, creating a nuisance for Maricopa County residents. During this time of year, the improper removal of weeds worsens these dusty conditions by emitting large amounts of dust into the air that we breathe. The Maricopa County Air Quality Department (MCAQD) highly encourages property owners to take mitigating steps to ensure that weed removal does not contribute to unhealthy air conditions. Prepping the area with water can help mitigate dust.

Pet of the Week
Tuxedo has been waiting for his forever home since October! He recently attended a “Mutt Manners” class. They said he really enjoyed a peanut butter lick mat while getting a nice bath. He also really enjoyed the splash pad! The trainers described him as easy, smart, polite, fun, and affectionate! He also participated in our dog socialization training and loved meeting a fellow dog and having fun together! Tuxedo is already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to go home today!
Happy Tails
“On October 9, 2021, I adopted Betty, now her name (call sign) is Betty Blue. When she first came home she was very shy and didn’t know what to expect or do. She would play with me for about a minute and the go lay down, she didn’t know if she could continue. Now, her and I are inseparable. She knows she has a forever home and she knows she is loved. She is GREAT with all other animals and I did not rescue her, she actually rescued me. I did not choose her, she chose me to be her human and I am so so thankful for her and everything that Maricopa County Animal Care does. With all the happiness in the world, Sam and Betty Blue De La Fuente”
