Hello MRC Volunteers,
As March begins, we are finally getting back to normal and turning our focus to what lies ahead. We have some exciting opportunities this month and continue to work on interesting training sessions to share with you. MRC will be assisting with a full scale exercise in Goodyear and helping us conduct our Community Health Needs Assessment. Additionally, our Volunteer Symposium is back for the first time since Covid. There is no way to sufficiently express our gratitude to you but we look forward to honoring you on March 22nd, I hope you can join us.

Help with a full-scale exercise
Thursday, March 16th, 30 volunteers are needed to play exercise actors as evacuees to process through the Reception and Care Center (RCC). Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management will be conducting this annual exercise to test our RCC plan in the event of an evacuation of the Palo Verde Generating Plant.
Service animals are welcome. Exercise check-in registration begins at 8:30am followed by briefings. Exercise to begin at 10:00am and is scheduled to end at 12pm. Lunch and After-Action Review will occur in the school cafeteria at approx 12pm. Activities should cease around 1pm.

Community Needs Health Assessment
Volunteers needed to administer the Community Health Needs Assessment for Maricopa County Public Health.
Using an iPad you will assist folks complete the online survey to gauge the health and needs of the community. MCDPH staff will have a table at numerous community events all over the county between now and the end of May. Events will be added often so continue to check back.
This is a county wide survey that is conducted every 3 years. The results impact public health policy and decision making. Your efforts assist us in attaining a health community for all.

AZCEND Chandler
AZCEND Chandler(Arizona Ave & Frye Rd) is seeking volunteer support Monday through Thursday. As one of the nation’s oldest food banks and Chandler’s largest basic needs provider, AZCEND program services continue to strengthen and empower low-income children, adults, and families by developing their capacity for greater self-reliance, success and stability. Vista del Camino Food Bank
Vista del Camino Food Bank (Hayden & Roosevelt) in Scottsdale is looking for volunteer support on Thursdays through May. Food bank responsibilities include standing for most of the shift, the ability to lift up to 30 lbs., and working with a vulnerable population. The shift is from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and the following dates are available. 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, and 5/25.

Villa Montessori School
Volunteers are needed on Mondays and Fridays to assist with receiving messages from the school absentee line, and relaying information to the front-desk person, also with conducting some data entry of the absent students. There are open shifts on 4/7, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, and 5/19. The school is located near 28th Street and Campbell Avenue.
