Career Opportunities Right Out of High School
Maricopa County Supervisors approved $1.29 million in funding to help provide career and technical educational opportunities to high school students in Mesa Public Schools. The approval comes a week before the start of CTE Month®, an observation held each February to bring awareness to the important role that Career and Technical Education (CTE) plays for students and the economy.
“There’s more than one path to career success. While college or military service is the right fit for some young men and women, others are focused on joining the workforce,” said Chairman Clint Hickman, District 4. “This investment provides students in Mesa an opportunity to get skills in a specific field, even before they graduate high school.”

Pet of the Week
Espresso has been at the shelter for a few weeks after a kind stranger found him chained to a fence at a dog park. Espresso was so grateful to this person and jumped right in his car! The finder tells us he is playful and friendly with other dogs, but he wants to chase cats. He knows sit and appears to be potty trained. Espresso would be a great fit for a family!
Happy Tails
“We adopted Bentley in October 2022. He was found abandoned in a grocery store parking lot. We met Bentley his second day at the shelter. We instantly fell in love with him. He's a perfect fit for our family. He loves car rides, being outside, cuddles, and playing with his toys. He's been such a joy to have around.”
