Domestic Violence Survivors Benefit from $15 Million Investment
To ensure that there are ample support services and safe places available for survivors, Maricopa County made a $15 million investment in 2021.
"I'm pleased to see this partnership with The Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV) is making a difference in terms of people's safety, health, and extending access to services into the community," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates, District 3. “Over the past year, we’ve provided domestic violence survivors with the support and resources they need to leave unhealthy and abusive situations. I’m proud of our efforts to care for some of our most vulnerable community members.”
Throughout the last year, the funding provided by Maricopa County has facilitated meaningful change by bringing many of the support services, that were traditionally only accessible in shelters, into the community. This evolution has allowed the system to keep pace with the changing needs of survivors by making resources more widely available. In partnership with ACESDV, this progress includes providing services to more than 31,913 families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.

Bilingual Content Creators Share County News
With a large community of Spanish speakers in Maricopa County, sharing County news in Spanish is critical. In 2019, bilingual communicators across Maricopa County departments came together to create the Bilingual Content Creators group to get the word out about County news in Spanish. The group translates information about County resources, meets with members of the community, and advises departments on how to reach Spanish speakers.

PETS AND PLACES
Pet of the Week
Spice up your life with Oregano on your side! This adorable boy is about four years old, 65lbs, and already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He’s happy to hop in the car for your next adventure and has excellent manners when showing off his “sit” and gently taking treats as a reward. He loves to cool off in a kiddie pool, play with toys, and get attention and pets from anyone with a hand to spare. Our volunteers know him as a very fun, polite, and smart guy and would love to see him find his forever home!
