Hispanic Heritage Month
On September 14th, the Board of Supervisors read a proclamation declaring September 15th-October 15th Hispanic Heritage Month in Maricopa County. In Maricopa County, 32% of our residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, and our county government staff reflects that diversity as well with 29% of our employees identifying as Hispanic or Latino. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we take the time to recognize the contributions of Hispanic residents in Maricopa County and across the United States.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Knowing the warning sides of suicide can make a huge difference.
- Withdrawing from others/isolating
- Talking about death/killing themselves
- Expressing extreme rage or appearing agitated
- Sleeping too little or too much
- Giving away prized possessions or saying goodbyes
TeenLifeLine.org is a crisis hotline that provides a safe way for teens to talk to trained peer counselors about mental health crises. You can also call or text 602-248-8336 to access support.
Library Card Sign-Up Month
Libraries are a great resource for young learners and students. Why not get them signed up for a library card? They can access homework help, language learning resources, audio and e-books, and much more!
