Promoting Election Security Nationally

NACO Photos

Election security continues to be a national concern. No one should have to face violent threats at work, but unfortunately, this is a reality for many election professionals.

At the National Association of Counties Annual Meeting, I was honored to lead a panel that shared ideas on how to protect and retain our professional election workers. Pictured with Large Urban County Chair John O’Grady.

Animal Care and Control at Critical Capacity

Animal Care and Control, pet, license, pup

Animal Care and Control is in urgent need of residents to adopt and foster shelter animals. Both our East and West Shelters are at maximum capacity. We are asking for the community to help by stopping by one of our shelters and adopting an animal. If you cannot adopt an animal right now, you can also help by fostering one.

Currently, all dogs that are older than 5-months are only $25 to adopt. The adoption fee covers spay and neutering, vaccinations, and a license.

Transportation Improvements

East Valley

Drivers in the East Valley are benefitting from a completed interim extension of State Route 24, from Williams Field Rd. in Mesa to Ironwood Dr. The improvements signal a completed promise of the half-cent sales tax for transportation approved under Prop 400.

Around the District

Gateway Airport

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport had a significant milestone with the opening of the new John S. McCain III Control Tower. The opening was attended by elected officials from all over the East Valley and by Senator Mark Kelly and Congressman Greg Stanton. Jack McCain represented the McCain family.
