Find a Job at the Queen Creek Library

Arizona Work Maricopa County

Thanks to a partnership between Maricopa County's Human Services Department and the Library District, job seekers in District 1 now have access to career counseling and employment services through the Queen Creek Library at 21802 S. Ellsworth Road.

Career advisors will assess each person’s unique needs and design an approach that helps them achieve their career goals. Services include, but are not limited to, career guidance, conducting job searches, apprenticeships, grant programs for professional certification classes, access to financial and childcare assistance, as well as job fairs and referrals to immediate openings with local employers. If you are interested in this service, complete an application.

The Workforce Development program helps locate, train, equip, position, and match the local workforce to career opportunities available with participating employers. All career seeker and employer support services are offered at no cost.

Cox is Expanding to Sun Lakes

Cox and HOA team

Cox Communications is bringing Cox gig internet, TV, phone, and home security and automation services, as well as business services to more than 7,800 residents in Sun Lakes this summer.

Access to this improved service is a result of three years of collaboration, and an effective partnership between Maricopa County's District 1 Supervisors Office and Cox Communications. The service will be important for local businesses, education, and access to telehealth. This state-of-the-art expansion is part of Cox's commitment to a multibillion-dollar annual infrastructure investment over the next several years to build a 10-Gigabit capable, fiber-based network to power the next generation of internet users.

COVID-19 and the Test to Treat Program

Case Increase

While Maricopa County is still in a Low Community Level, the risk of contracting COVID-19 is growing as a higher percentage of people in our community test positive. Public Health's data page has information on Community Levels, recommendations for individuals, and more.

There are medications available to treat positive COVID-19 cases. The federal “Test to Treat” program provides both rapid testing and prescriptions for oral antivirals that can help lessen symptoms. These medications are most effective when they are started within a few days of symptoms starting, so don’t delay getting tested. Find “Test to Treat” locations.

Elections

Elections

2022 August Primary Election and Independent Voters
Independent voters are now the largest voting group in Maricopa County. With the August Primary Election a few months away, we are reminding independent voters that they can participate in the Primary Election, but they need to indicate their ballot choice, even if they are on the Active Early Voting List. These voters may select a Republican, Democratic, or non-partisan ballot (if available). In 2020, of the more than 800,000 independent voters, 106,486 voters cast a ballot.

Voters can make this request using the elections notices (90-day cards) mailed in early May, or they can go online to BeBallotReady.Vote. Independent voters can also make their choice at a Vote Center. Locations are open July 6 - August 2.

2022 Election Plans Approved
Maricopa County's 2022 Election Plan expands voting access for the 2022 Primary and General Elections, while continuing to focus on security and transparency. The plan informs voters and other stakeholders about key information and activities, so they are prepared to participate in the election.

Now Hiring Temporary Election Workers!
Recruitment has started for poll workers, truck drivers, central board workers and other temporary employees that are hired to support the August Primary Election. Meet people in your community and make a positive impact in your neighborhood while learning how elections work! Submit your interest and find the application portal at GetInvolved.Maricopa.Vote.

Locations.Maricopa.Vote
Maricopa County will offer a "vote anywhere" election model to provide voters with increased access and reliability. Voters can choose from a variety of locations, days, and hours that are convenient for them to vote in person or drop off an early ballot.

Voters will continue to be able to view live wait times at Locations.Maricopa.Vote. Search for Vote Centers near them, find hours of operation and more.

Correcting the Record
Maricopa County leaders are correcting the record about the 2020 election yet again. The Board of Supervisors joined Recorder Stephen Richer in sending a letter to Attorney General Mark Brnovich that details how his April 6 interim report “omitted pertinent information, misrepresented facts, and cited distorted data” to sow doubt in county election processes, equipment, and staff.
