Additional Funding For Affordable Housing
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved $10.7 million in funding that will bring more affordable housing units to both the East and West Valley. This funding follows previous investments made by the Board to address the shortage of affordable home and rentals in the region. “While there’s no overnight fix…this Board has shown a continued commitment to being part of the solution,” said Chairman Bill Gates.

We’re Fighting The Bite – Are You?
Higher temps are here and so is mosquito season. Fortunately, Maricopa County Vector Control is on the case. Each week, they deploy more than 800 traps to routine sites that have been identified as mosquito-breeding areas and test for various diseases including West Nile virus.
You can help Fight the Bite, too. Remove even the smallest amounts of standing water around your home and yard since mosquitoes need water to breed. They love flowerpots, outdoor pet bowls, landscaping puddles and bird baths.
Also remember to wear an EPA-registered insect repellent when outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn.

Fire Ban at Maricopa County Parks Starts May 1st
The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department will initiate its annual fire ban on Sunday, May 1, 2022. With nearly 60% of the state experiencing severe drought conditions, dried grasses, brush, and fallen leaves at our parks can act as fuel for potentially destructive fires. A fire ban limits the risk to visitors, neighbors, and park resources.
