MCAO Receives Millions in Federal Funding for Cold Cases & Processing of Sexual Assault Rape Kits

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (MCAO) is proud to announce it is the recipient of approximately $3 million in grants from the Department of Justice to help find justice for victims of crime. 

• The DNA cold case grant will provide MCAO with more than $500,000 to pay for additional DNA testing, create a countywide database of cold cases, hire a data analyst, and ultimately be a multiplier of resources for seasoned prosecutors who are experts in cold case homicide investigations. 
• The SAKI grant, with an award amount of nearly $2.5 million, will fund several initiatives.

Phishing attempts are one of the most common scams affecting people today. Scammers will send emails and text messages made to look legitimate and posed to make you share login credentials, account information, and much more. See the example below. 

One of the best ways you can protect yourself is by never logging on to an online account from an email or clicking on a link from a text message, no matter how legitimate it looks. Instead, it's best to login to the website directly.

Meet Our New Community Affairs Coordinator

MCAO's Community Affairs Team engages with the community through a variety of education based outreach activities that help families develop better safety habits. We're excited to announce that we have a new addition to this team. An Arizona native, Tiffany Lam Mendoza is passionate about serving those in her community and believes that one of the best tools for crime prevention is education.

MCAO's Speakers Bureau

The County Attorney's Speaker Bureau program is a free service available to all Maricopa County residents that provides informative sessions presented by deputy county attorneys, paralegals, and staff members on a range of criminal justice issues.  Presentation topics include scams, fraud, and identity theft, home and travel safety, internet safety and much more!

Shred-A-Thon Makes its Way to Central Phoenix!

Join us for a Shred-A-Thon and Prescription Drug Take-Back! During our last two Shred-A-Thons Maricopa County residents shredded over 24 tons of documents and dropped off 466 pounds of prescription medications. Let us help you safely dispose of your documents and prescription medication at our next Shred-A-Thon!
