About Us

Maricopa County Environmental Services provides essential, regional environmental services seeking to prevent and remove environmental health risks. The Department’s Environmental Health Specialists and Field Technicians are in the community every day making sure that among other things, food in all the eating and drinking establishments in the County is protected from contamination, that water supplies throughout the County are safe to drink, and that vector borne health illnesses and risks are minimized. It is our belief that with continued support, future generations will reap the benefits of today’s actions.

Happy New Year and Happy New Updates!

The MCESD Environmental Health Division Has Some Updates for You

Maricopa County Environmental Services Department (MCESD) frequently engages our stakeholders in discussions regarding regulatory updates, changes to our policies and procedures, and enhanced communication. These discussions provide valuable and meaningful input on all aspects of our work. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Environmental Health (EH) Division management met with stakeholders to review business processes and determine how our agency could further enhance communication with our customers.

Code Revision Training

Even through the pandemic, exciting updates have been made to EH Division programs and information on how we communicate through our inspections. Below are highlights of recent updates and other items that are coming soon.

New Cutting Edge A+ Card
  • Updates to the Cutting-Edge Program that include a streamlined inspection process and a new A+ grade card for Cutting Edge Program members.
DId You Know
  • Updates to the food establishment inspection report that includes a “Did You Know?” page. The “Did You Know” page highlights the 72 hour hold period before inspections are published to the Department website, and provides a clear communication path for food service operators who would like to discuss their inspection report during this period.
EH Survey
  • Development of a Customer Survey, for permitted operators to share their experiences with our services, as part of our continued process improvement efforts. The Customer Survey which is also available on our website, can be found on the inspection report.
2017 FDA Food Code
Virtual Inspections
  • The Department is reviewing current technology solutions to ensure our platforms meet the needs of our Department and our customers, as well as position us to remain flexible in providing services in new and effective ways moving forward.

We are looking forward to another year of working together to improve the service that we provide you.
