TODAY'S KEY MESSAGE
A Critical Time In The Covid-19 Fight
|
|
As the new year begins, we need everyone to come together to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Kids are returning to school. More workers will be returning to the office. Hospitals continue to be strained. And at last count, 14% of tests reported to Public Health are coming back positive, with many more positive at-home tests likely (not all are reported). If there ever was a time to get vaccinated and mask up, this is it.

How Your Actions Can Help
It’s true that no single person or entity can end the pandemic. But we CAN make a difference for those who are most at risk of serious illness:
- Think of infants and young children who are not yet eligible to get vaccinated.
- Think of the elders who have done what has been asked of them and yet still are at greater risk for serious illness.
- Think of the people with daily health challenges who cannot afford one more in COVID-19.
- Think of the people who need emergency care or long-term care for reasons other than COVID-19.
Then, when you have your motivation, take action:
- Get vaccinated and boosted
- Wear a mask in public indoor settings and crowded outdoor settings
- Physically distance
- Wash your hands frequently
- Stay home when you're sick, even if it’s just a cold

Help Paying The Bills And Much More
Throughout the pandemic, Maricopa County has worked to get federal recovery funds out the door quickly and into the hands of residents and organizations who need it most. For many folks, that means a little help to pay rent or utility bills. In November alone, Maricopa County provided close to $2 million in assistance to help individuals and families stay in their homes. It’s just one way the County is putting federal dollars to work to help the community bounce back from the pandemic.

PETS AND PLACES
Pet of the Week
Oh, Eva ❤️
This sensitive soul is a long timer at our shelter. Eva (#A4615557) is a timid lady who is easily overwhelmed by the noisy environment and would love to have a home of her own!
Eva is happy to nap quietly when everyone's busy, taste-test whatever treats come her way, or run her zoomies out in the yard. And while she still gets startled easily, she has gained a lot of confidence from spending time in a quiet, calm office with one of our caring staff members.
Eva is approximately six years old. She would do best in a home where all family members are at least five. If you have any other pets, a gradual introduction would be important.
Think this sensitive soul could be good match for you? Visit our website to find more information, or stop by the shelter to say hello. Eva is already spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready to go home with you as soon as today!
