New County Webpage Highlights Pandemic Assistance Programs

Maricopa County has launched a new webpage where residents can find information on programs and support services to individuals, families, and businesses impacted by the pandemic: Maricopa.gov/Rescue.

“I view county government as a partner to residents, especially in times of great need,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers, District 1.  “Whether you’re looking for help finding a job, paying bills, keeping your business running, or taking care of your physical or mental health, there are likely resources available to you at Maricopa.gov/Rescue.”

Using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and partnering with community-based non-profits, the County is able to offer a variety of assistance programs to help the region recover from the social, economic, and public health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The $435 million allocated to Maricopa County by the federal government is being used to address critical needs in the community including housing and food insecurity, labor market challenges, and the ongoing public health response as COVID-19 cases rise and new variants emerge. 

At Maricopa.gov/Rescue, people will be able to search county programs based on their specific needs.  The County is providing direct financial assistance through programs like emergency rental assistance, free legal services to renters facing eviction, and small business stability grants.  County funding is also supporting the efforts of community partners who are addressing issues such as feeding the hungry and safely housing and supporting domestic violence survivors.

The goal is to distribute funds in an equitable way across our community, with a focus on areas disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.  The current ARPA budget includes $241 million to address the negative economic impacts and disparities in health outcomes related to COVID-19 and $110 million to support the public health response, with smaller spends on other priorities.
